The difference between coconut shell activated carbon and coal activated carbon

2022-01-10 16:57
There are many types of activated carbon. Coal-based activated carbon and coconut shell activated carbon are both common types of activated carbon. Coal-based activated carbon is sold as high-quality coconut shell activated carbon, which greatly affects the market order of activated carbon. Today, Huayu will introduce some techniques to distinguish coconut shell activated carbon from coal-based activated carbon. There are four main aspects.

1. Appearance
Coal-based activated carbon is mostly columnar and spherical in appearance, and coconut shell activated carbon is more irregular and granular.

2. In terms of weight
Coconut shell activity belongs to the woody husk type of activated carbon, which is characterized by developed pores, low density, and very light hand feel. It is much lighter in the hand than coal-based activated carbon.

3. In terms of volume
Because coconut shell activated carbon has low density, developed voids and light weight, it will be much larger than coal-based activated carbon when put together with coal-based activated carbon of the same quality.

4. Use
Coconut shell activated carbon is mainly used for the purification of drinking water, purified water, wine making, beverages and industrial sewage. It can also be used in the desulfurization and alcohol removal in the oil refining industry.
Coal-based activated carbon is mainly used in water treatment industry and air purification industry, such as: purification of industrial waste gas, protective equipment, raw water purification of power plants, drinking water purification, reuse of reclaimed water, etc.
