Why should coconut shell activated carbon be pickled

1. It can remove heavy metal elements and in coconut shell activated carbon, reduce heavy metal content, and improve the safety of water purification.  During the pickling process, hydrochloric acid can dissolve the inorganic salts and heavy metal compounds in the activated carbon. After washing with water, it can effectively reduce the content of heavy metals.

2. Remove soluble inorganic salt ash and degrade TDS concentration. The pickling process can dissolve the inorganic salt impurities in the activated carbon and reduce the ash content such as calcium carbonate. The ash content of coconut shell activated carbon without pickling is about 5%, the ash content of coconut shell activated carbon after pickling is less than 3%, and the ash content of coconut shell activated carbon can reach less than 1% after deep pickling.

For coconut shell activated carbon that has not been pickled, after the purified water is heated to a high temperature and cooled, a white suspension will appear, which is the reaction of the dissolution of inorganic salts. The amount of water that appears in the white suspension is proportional to the level of ash content, and only a large amount of clean water is used for washing The water quality will be clarified after the ash content is reduced.

3. Adjust PH to improve the taste of water. The pH of ordinary activated carbon is between 9-11, and the pH of coconut shell activated carbon after deep pickling can be controlled at 7-8.5, and the pH of drinking water is 7.1-7.6. The taste is very good.

4. Reduce the dust on the surface of coconut shell activated carbon and the pores, and reduce the amount of black water. The deep pickling process will wash with a lot of softened water, which can remove the floating ash on the surface of the coconut shell activated carbon and the ash in the pores. 
Applied to the front end of the water purifier, it can greatly reduce the risk of water-soluble and acid-soluble ash clogging the ultrafiltration membrane or reverse osmosis membrane, and increase the life of the membrane; applied to the rear end of the water purifier can ensure that the water is clear and transparent without black water.

Acid washed coconut shell activated carbon is widely used in water treatment. In water treatment, there are generally pickling tanks and water washing tanks. The activated carbon is first pickled and then washed. Generally speaking, both granular coconut shell activated carbon and powdered coconut shell activated carbon must be pickled, and columnar activated carbon is rarely pickled. Of course, the use of columnar activated carbon is also inseparable in water treatment.
